Nursery Rhymes in early Childhood
With our younger children I have always been reciting, singing and learning Nursery Rhymes, and while doing so, indirectly teaching them English. These well known verses bring young children closer to British culture and the English language, and provide them with first experiences in poetry and music.
We have a collection of nursery rhymes books at home. But my absolute favourite is this picture book by Nicola Bayley: Book Of Nursery Rhymes which I received as a birthday present a very long time ago, as a child.
About 30 years later I found a paperback edition of the same book and ordered it for my own children! What makes this book so special for me, are the outstandingly beautiful illustrations with all the amazing details.
