Alice unconsciously seeks a way to escape dystopian Britain in 2075. However, when she decides to become an outlaw, she finds herself mysteriously transferred to Victorian times and becomes friends with Irish priest John O’Brien who advocates for the working class poor in the midst of the Lancashire cotton famine. Her journey to the past continues into Tudor times. After experiencing the horrific persecution under the reign of King Henry VIII and discovering her new soulmate, Wilfrid, Alice steps through a mysterious portal to an unknown future, uncertain if they will ever meet again.
