Ash Wednesday is the begining of lent. It is a day of fasting and abstinence. At church the priest wears purple – the liturgical colour of lent. The faithful visiting church on this day will receive the sign of the cross, in the shape of ashes sprinkled on their head. This reminds us of our own mortality.
Be reconciled to God… now is the favourable time. (2 Cor 5: 20-6:2)
Wishing you all a blessed and contemplative lent!
