Regale voller Bücher sind goldwert
Eine Beschäftigung, die ich sehr mag und öfters pflege, ist das Vorlesen (auch lese ich natürlich gerne für mich selber). Das Vorlesen ist eine sehr wertvolle Beschäftigung, da stimmen sicher viele Homeschool-Familien mit mir überein.
Meine Zuhörer und ich geniessen es gemütlich auf dem Sofa, unter der warmen Bettdecke oder, wie kürzlich, sogar im Auto unterwegs Geschichten aus einem Buch zu hören.
Zu Weihnachten gab es zwei neue Märchenbücher (Illustrated Grimm’s Fairy Tales
und Fairy Tales for Bedtime) für die Kinderbuch-Sammlung daheim. Märchen gehören zu meinen Lieblingsgeschichten. Einige von ihnen habe ich schon dutzende Male vorgelesen, und trotzdem wollen sie immer wieder gehört werden.
Das Vorlesen beschränke ich nicht nur auf die Kleinen, die noch nicht selber lesen können. Manchmal sind meine älteren Töchter sowie mein Mann hören mit.
Meiner zehnjährigen Tochter lese ich manchmal aus den Chroniken von Narnia
von C.S. Lewis vor. Momentan sind wir bei Prinz Kaspian. Ich lese auf Englisch vor. Sie ist selber eine Leseratte und liest vor allem auf Deutsch.
One of the things I like doing most and often do at home is reading to my children (and reading to myself). Reading to others is a very valuable experience, I’m sure most homeschool families will agree to that.
My listeners and enjoy sitting comfortably on the sofa, in warm beds or even, like recently, riding in the car and listening to a story.
At Christmas two lovely fairy tale books (Illustrated Grimm’s Fairy Tales
and Fairy Tales for Bedtime) have enriched our children’s book collection at home. Fairy Tales or Nursery Tales belong to my favourite stories. We have Fairy Tales at home which I have read more than a dozen times, but still want to be heard over and over again.
I don’t just read to the small ones, who can’t read themselves yet. Sometimes my older daughters and my husband listen too.
I also read the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis to my ten year old daughter. Currently we are at Prince Caspian. I read to her in English. She is a bookworm and usually reads in German.

We love reading aloud too, even though all my children are fluent and competent readers and don’t really someone to read the words for them. We always have a few books ‘on the go’. Nothing beats sitting together and sharing the same story. Then we can all discuss the details together later. I think a story is enjoyed even more when it is a shared experience.
We love fairy tales and the Narnia books too!
